Log file download problem

When I connect to my server running Windows 2008 Web Edition sp2 via ftp to download the log files I get the following messages.

Cannot download/WebSiteLogs/ScubaDivingClasses/u_ex110504.log
Interrupted

Cannot download/WebSiteLogs/UnderwaterPhotoClasses/u_ex110510.log
Interrupted

Cannot download
/WebSiteLogs/TransportationSkills/W3SVC21/u_ex120813.log
550 failed to open file

The program should be able to download multiple logs with the same name from different locations. What log path have you specified in the profile properties?

The 550 error is sent by the server when it cannot open a file. It's strange that FileZilla can open it. Do you also use FTP (not SFTP) with FileZilla? Does the program report this error when it tries to download the same file or it has problems with different files?

In some cases today's log file may be locked but it is unusual for other files to be locked.

I found the problem with "Interrupted"; there were two folders on the server with log files and it was downloading from both. I got the error when it tried to download a file with the same name.

The "550 failed to open file" error. I did download all the log files from the server without any errors using FileZilla. I also tried passive FTP mode and got the error.

It seems that there are two different problems with download:

1. The "Interrupted" problem seems to be some kind of connection issue. I recommend you to enable the passive FTP mode in the profile properties and check if it helps.

2. The "550 failed to open file" error usually appears if some files are locked. However, in such case FileZilla shouldn't be able to access the files either. Could you check that these files were indeee successfully downloaded by FileZilla?

I can download the log files to my computer with FileZilla and analyze them with out a problem. I have also tried turning off the firewall and I have the same problem.

First of all you should check your firewall settings, maybe it doesn't allow the program to download log files from the web server. If it doesn't help, I recommend you to try to download the same logs using another FTP client (e.g. FileZilla) and check if it works correctly or the same error is shown. It will help to determin if the program is with the program settings or with the server settings.
