CPU at 100%

We are running WebLog Expert on it's own server which is a Windows Server 2008 R2 installation with 2 GB RAM and plenty of free space. I notice that for memory we are only using about 1/2 but the CPU usage always seems at 100% when the program is analyizing logs. I have the scheduler setup so for the most part the program is only doing one profile at a time. Any ideas for tweaking the performance?

WebLog Expert is designed to use as much CPU as possible, as it reduces analysis time. The scheduler runs the program with low priority by default, so other programs should still run correctly when the analysis is performed.

If the CPU has multiple cores, you can disable the "Use multiple processors (if available)" option so the program will use just one core. However, in this case the analysis will take more time.

Thank you for the reply.

The server that WebLog Expert is running on is dedicated to that program with nothing else on it. Presently it only has one processor so I'll have the server group look into adding more. We have one website with larger log files and from your answer it should help speed up the processing of the log files.

BTW I also recommend you to use 4GB of RAM. While the program itself cannot use more than 2GB for analysis, some amount of RAM will be used by Windows and other running programs. Extra RAM will be also used for file read/write cache, that can be quite useful, especially if you use dynamic HTML reports (caching will allow the reports to load data faster - much faster in some cases).
