Why does weblog expert analyse old log files?

why does web log expert analyse log files from months ago when I'm just running the report for last month.

When the program analyzes log files first time, it needs to read all log files not depending on the specified time range as it doesn't know time ranges for data stored in each log file (while only data for the specified time range will be analyzed and shown in report). However, after it the program stores time ranges for these logs in a built-in time range cache, so next time you analyze the profile, the program will read only log files for the specified time range.
